NEW AND UPDATED TRAVEL AGENT AND OWNER TRAINING CLASS
Self- Paced & Online

Upon completion of this course, you will have gathered enough basic knowledge of the travel industry to sell leisure travel as an independent contractor for a host travel agency or consider other start-up options. LTA Central, our host travel agency, will offer you the option of applying to sell travel under its banner.

These are some of the benefits of becoming an independent travel agent/advisor:

  • You can effectively become a travel agency owner and be in business for yourself.
  • You will earn commissions on the leisure travel products you sell.
  • You can choose to work part-time or full-time. There are no minimum work hour requirements or sales quotas.
  • You will likely work from home, but you can also work in a commercial location to which you have access.
  • You will have discounted travel opportunities.
  • You will earn commission on your personal and business travel when paying retail rates for commissionable travel products.
  • Based on the advice of your professional tax and legal consultants, you may qualify for certain business tax deductions.

About International Travel Institute of Texas (ITI) - Established 1974

ITI is the training division of LTA Central, a host travel agency. The parent company of both is Leisure Travel Alliance, a traditional travel agent consortium. Together, Leisure Travel Alliance, LTA Central and ITI offer new travel agents entry-level training and optional affiliation opportunities.

ITI has provided training for entry-level travel agents for 50 years. In earlier years, study courses were designed for individuals interested in working as salaried employees in traditional storefront travel agencies. With the elimination of airline commissions in the 1990s and the subsequent decline of storefront travel agencies, home-based travel agencies are now the dominant business model in the travel agent community.

The majority of those entering the home-based travel agent business choose to sell travel as independent contractors for host travel agencies. In addition to instructional content, we provide information on host agency membership and other business start-up options. Before, during and after your enrollment, our staff is available by phone and email to answer your questions regarding our course content and related subjects.
